You are indeed correct. Whatever works for you is best as long as you stick to it.

Reason (Rwy Blocked?)
Altitude (lower?)
Weather (below mins)
Location (on inbound course?)
Expect further clearance
Fuel (how much remaining?)


AMORTS approach brief


Approach (make sure you have right one)
Minimums (sector, procedure turn, FAF crossing, DH or MDA)
Overshoot (missed approach)
Radio (tune & identify)
Time (to MAP)
Special (non standard notations)
