Geoff Dunster of Channel Aviation used to have six of 'em, mainly designed around flying an instrument approach:

Turn (on to the necessary track)
Time (start the watch)
Twist (OBS or maybe altimeter subscale)
Throttle (go down, slow down or both)
Talk (report the beacon outbound/inbound)
Track (concentrate on going in the right direction!)

Works for me.
