Apart from the transatlantic issue, EI have never used a A330 on a short haul flight out of Cork. I'm also told that BFS, MAN and PIK are alternates if DUB and SNN are closed. I know there was an issue with the turning circle at Cork in the 90's and that it has been widened since. Maybe someone forgot to tell Aerlingus! It might be a useful option if they ever need to double up on Cork/Dublin flights or tender for match Charters. Several foreign operators have used their 330's on Cork charters so it sounds like a breakdown in Communication.
