6Z3 - I suspect that 98% of the population reckon that the RM is a sub-section of the Army. They wear green after all
It works like this:
All chaps/chapesses who walk/take a vehicle to battle are Army.
All who fly to battle are RAF.
All who float on/under the ocean are Navy.
