Jim, don't hold your breath waiting for exciting developments in 2012!
The malevolent ones you speak of had their roots sewn 12 years ago. Today's mischief is merely a manifestation of over a decade of this foolishness.

I did my decade and ran for the door. Nothing has changed since Il Deuce came along. Mates rates rules the day.
I have watched a number of managers get the rogering they deserved in the past few years and then booted out the door but they are replaced with equally inept imbeciles. People with no practical aviation experience, mates of management and McDonalds workers have long been the flavor of choice at DJ. Strong gums, being a blood relative of management and the ability to kiss ass are a 'must have' if you seek a progressive career path.

I laughed when the 'Monaro driver' got punted a few months back from head office. The look on his face when his superior told him he had 10 minutes to pack his stuff and leave was priceless. Funny how he groomed her and promoted her until eventually the apprentice grew stronger than the master and she pineapples him!! Oops no more BG to protect him, ha!
Several other of his former Brisbane lieutenants contributed to the skillful removal of his tenure which makes it even more funny! But the downside is these long term managers who are deeply imbedded in the place won't be moved along any time soon. It's the same game just a different year.

How about the now famous porn bust in which only selected 'troublemakers' were identified and punted? That was the biggest farce of all. We all know the other players in the porn racket and how select individuals who coincidently were managers or managers pets didn't get punted.

How's the safety department traveling these days? Still a basket case ? Again the long term incompetents who have clung to this department are part of the problem. Tsk tsk tsk they didn't come out smelling to good in the recent CASA audit! Again no action taken, no shock.

And let's not get started on engineering!! An area that they have never been able to get right. They have tried and tried and tried yet still issues in management remain. Rumour has it that in a recent regulatory audit several maintenance lapses were identified and a couple of jets grounded? If true, who's heads have rolled? Not good when the regulator finds those sort of mistakes. I recall Ansett having similar issues? Oh so quiet I can hear a pin drop? Oops I forgot, that would earn someone a promotion at DJ!!

But don't worry about all this stuff, DJ now have new uniforms, funky colored Perspex dividing the pointy end from the ****ty end and some spiffy billboards, and at the end of the day one cannot forget that it is all about 'keeping the air fare'!!!
Cue Richard to come in with some stupid gimmick and whacky antics.
