Only issue I ever noticed was that you got a fair bit of buffet over the tailplane when sideslipping with 40 flap.
Control Buffett, as apposed to airframe buffett, would indicate a tail stall which would decrease elevator authority, to nil in the event of a full tail stall, so I would be careful about experimenting too far with this.
Was it control buffett or airframe buffett you encountered?
