Assuming that we are talking about 1 hour into France in a Piper Warrior...

If you like the bright likes of the big city, try Pontoise. Very convenient for Paris, very cheap, big runways, and a VOR on the field. Very friendly. A definite passenger pleaser.

If you want to go for something a little less obvious, try Rouen. Nice historic city centre; scene of the burning of Joan of Arc, a short taxi-ride away from the centre. Very friendly lady ATCO of my acquaintance should you need a local contact

Or, you could try Quimper, if you are happy to cross via the Channel Islands. A little over an hour into France, and right in the heart of Brittany. Very pleasant town with loads of history.

For the easy option, try Amiens. A small airport, much less than 1 hour into France. Very friendly club, and once again, a very short ride in the historic city centre.

Finally, try Reims Prunay. Possibly a little over an hour for you (depending on where you enter French airspace, and where your hour's stopwatch starts from), but a super airfield with immediate access to Reims and Epernay... the centre of Champagne country,.

Hows that for starters.
