Speculation that about Brussells replacing Frankfurt. Hopefully it's wide of the mark as there is no comparison in terms of connecting traffic.
But the amount of people from Munster living in Belgium is far greater than the number living in and around Frankfurt. Also lots of business connections between Munster and Belgium. And anyway Aer Lingus ain't gonna code share on either Frankfurt or Brussels, so the amount of connecting traffic thanks to travel agents will be limited. That said, Brussels has excellent connnections to Africa and India, as well as routes like Moscow, Madrid, Athens, Scandanavia, Tel Aviv etc. that are not available from Cork.
