Wouldn't a second engine OUT, not feathered be a significant yaw drag for the pilot to handle?"...but who said that the first (left) engine had in fact FAILED?. From memory, the reports only said that "smoke was seen coming from it".
Fuel contaminaion or blockage seems to be the only explanation for a simultaneous, multiple engine failure.
