I don't get to go behind the scenes at airports very often, but LPL is one place where I have had such a privilege, although it must have been back around 2004. So I can confirm that Mr Tudor is indeed not just a very real person, but a very passionate one at that.

Journos on the other hand can easily get figures wrong. Now if I had a pound for every time I read about a million pound project when they meant billion. In our business, this is all too easy - after all, there are plenty of small terminals around the world which have been built for, say £4m. IIRC, the Liverpool current terminal as extended was in that ball park, maybe closer to 10? Yet LHR T5 was a cool £4 BILLION, and Thames Island, who knows, maybe a factor of 10 again.

Numerical competence is an essential part of a pilot's routine, especially when it comes to fuel loading (even in Gimli, they got the measurements wrong, but they weren't out by a factor of 10 / 100 / 1000...). The same can't be said in today's media world.
