@fly4cash here's the answer I got the UK CAA:
· You will be required to undertake 5 hours dual instrument instruction time of which 3 hours may be in a FS or FTD 2/3 or FNPT 11/111.
· Pass a ME (IR) H Skill Test
So you're right, seems like regardless of your background, you still need to go through those instruction hours and the Skill Test.
@Phil, you're right, 500 hours on type plus an LPC with a JAR TRE in order to lift the restriction otherwise your type rating is restricted to whatever country you're flying in. Now if you don't hold a ME IR in the first place then all you will get is a VFR type.
