I remember doing mine with an examiner at a local fixed wing flying club. At the time I was flying Gazelles. When it came to the Mayday call, I gave out the standard "mayday x3, Army 123, engine failure, north of Andover".
Oh no. He want the full hit, altitude, heading, problem, intentions etc, etc. He had difficulty understanding that after I'd said what I said, I'd be flaring into a field.
