There is always a CFI job in America, those are not that hard to come by. You get paid when you fly, you don't get paid when you don't fly. You may get some walk in students, but the successful CFIs get some of their own students outside the normal marketing of the schools.

You'll need a second job if you don't have spare cash, it is just about impossible for a new CFI to support themself doing nothing but flight instruction. It happens, but it is rare.
