Slighty off topic, but prompted by VFE, taken from a post read on pprune recently.
The youngest wartime captain joined the RAF at about 15yrs 4mths (fibbed about his age abit) flew his first operational missions over Germany in a Halifax bomber at about 15yrs 10mths, ended up being discharged after his Mum blew the whistle having seen his photo in the national news papers shaking the Kings hand during a base visit. He had told her he was on a cadet scheme.
A brave man in dangerous days.
cheers
