There is no shortage of experienced captains (not rated on the Airbus or Boeing). The emerging markets, especially the far east, have to realise that the supply of type rated captains is verging on the exhausted and they are going to have to bite the bullet and provide type rating courses if they are to meet demand.
The agencies should ram this home to their clients as well. I'm sure there must be an equivalent chinese proverb to the english of 'p..... into the wind' because that is what they are doing.
