I take your point about the terseness 
- the reason I mention ditching was because that the canal was dredged some 6/7 years ago and they came up with mud soaked in aviation fuel and lots of parts and instruments from the aircraft. I gather the bulk of the aircraft was removed approx 2/3 weeks after the crash
