I don't quite see the logic of your statement regarding SEN.
If RE felt that the GWY-LON route overall was viable over the winter, but that SEN was the weak link, surely they would have simply suspended the GWY-SEN and transferred all flights back to LTN at whatever frequency they felt would meet demand. The fact that they haven't done so suggests that the substantial overall cost savings achived by 'temporarily' closing the GWY base is more important to ensuring their survival than is maintaining the GWY-LON route.
