I, like many others probably accepted the narrow wheel track thing, but on reflection it may be more a case of where the legs attach to the airframe. The Hurricane legs actually attach outboard of the mainwheels, whereas the Spitfire legs are noticeable splayed out providing an effectively more narrow base.
