I would prefer to decide
when to use the last resort. My understanding of "big red button" is of a resource not offered automatically by the System. A resource to be used
when i decide to "fire" the System. Then starting to use the System just to provide what i will need to "hand" fly the a/c.
The "reconfigs" after that could (should) be implemented gradually, eg THS, etc. and presented to the crew.
