Had a Caribou visit Bulolo in the early '80s. As it taxied in and opened the cowls, something fell out.
Turned out to be a stud from the cylinder head. This needed an engine change on the grass strip at Bulolo. The new one was flown in from Richmond using a Hercules. Then, using a tong loader from the plymill as a hoist, off came the old engine and in went the new one.
No mean engineering feat in the bush!
Nice windfall for Pine Lodge too, as a one night stay turned into 4 nights!
Cheers
