Knowing people goes an awfully long way in corporate aviation. Unlike the airlines who seem to frown upon Captains giving their HR team recommendations of people, the Corporate world relies heavily on it.
Total time is often down the list of requirements, behind "can he/she fly?" and "will they fit in?"
A lot of corporate crews spend more time together than they do with their own families which is why you need to be easy to get on with. Oh and you also need to be good at interacting with the passengers/owners/their kids etc.
You will find that once you are in corporate, there are many many doors which are open to you which would never ever appear as a job advert on any website, or in Flight etc.
