Flying Coke Man l agree with your comments totally but the reality appears to be that a lot of people out there believe that when the power levers are gentled - or placed if that helps - into flight idle the aircraft decends vertically, more so with increased drag and lift by use of flap.
l would add lack of handling skills to your assessment.
