Funding your own type rating or line experience is a fool's errand. Any legitimate operator chooses his employees as the best fit for the operation; then arranges for the training, paid for. The inexperienced among us are just showing how stupid aviation can be.
We just hired 3 guys, all needed training, no payment necessary. They did agree to a period of work, but that did come with a payment unless they left early. Very hard to collect in the US, anyway.
