From the UAE "Gulf News"(21/10):
"DHL Worldwide Express has signed a partnership agreement with Abu Dhabi-based Gulf Aircraft Maintenance Co (Gamco), one of the leading aircraft maintenance providers.
Under the contract, DHL will act as Gamco's principal supplier of logistics, freight and inventory management services. In turn, Gamco will provide European Air Transport, a wholly owned DHL subsidiary based in Europe, with heavy checks for its Airbus B4 freighters.
The agreement is aimed at delivering considerable business savings and improve service standards to both partners.
Gamco is providing DHL with competitive global turn-around times for aircraft maintenance and is receiving international freight and logistics expertise to improve its overall performance through a cost-effective supply chain solution controlled, managed and implemented by DHL UAE.
Dr Sheikh Ahmed bin Saif Al Nahyan, Gamco chairman, said after signing the agreement: "This initiative will enhance the value of our operations. The agreement also stands as testimony to the Middle East's growing competitiveness in the aviation industry.
"DHL Worldwide Express has been appointed as Gamco's supply chain partner in investigating, documenting and providing the best possible solutions surrounding all aspects of our non-core business from import to the handling of hazardous goods."
