I personally think that the education requirements stated are a bit daft! They have clearly thought through the GCSE requirements but, what they ask for at A-level and university level obviously hasn't been thought through! Example, someone with CCC in Maths, Physics and Geography will be of much more use to them than someone with AAA in Colouring in(forgive the exaggeration). Similarly someone with a 2:2 in Aeronautical engineering will be a far more suitable candidate than someone with a 1:1 in David Beckham studies.
Navlights. You are quite right, I would imagine with the volume of applications that will be received, BA will have some form of computer system in use to help sift through the applications. So yes it is very likely in my opinion that if you don't tick and fill in the desired boxes your application will be automatically 'binned'.
