@purplehearts: as long as you fulfill the minimum requirements of the job posting, (of course hopefully you are not boderline everything D7), I believe that you can get an interview.
What matters is the impression you make during the interview.
As a pilot I believe you need the following qualities:
1. Willingness to learn, because aviation is an ever changing industry and the cockpit is an environment where nothing is constant. You are always learning.
2. Willingness to conform (to a certain extent). Airlines are all about SOPs. The Airline needs to know if you can stick the the rules.
3. Integrity. By this I mean don't lie in your resume. They will know. Pilot licenses are also tied to your driving record. One drink driving incident and your license is 99% RTO.
4. Ability to lead. Because at the end of the day you're being trained to command a crew of an Airliner.
