Sans,
The 76D has new main rotor, tail rotor and engines, accounting for maybe 50% of the whole job. The 609 is 100% new, so where does its miserable record of 20 years of development (and what - 500 total hours) sit?
I note your posts contain lots of tilt rotor kool aide, but you can't tell me that 20 years of development is a sign of success, and you can't tell me ANY aircraft that has taken so long with so little progress.
As I said, I think both programs were delayed, not by technical problems, but by the availability of cash due to higher priority programs absorbing all the company's available money.
