I agree with you BUT the last thing the BAA want is a new full service airline in Stansted. The entire BAA argument for retaining the airport is that Stansted is a low cost Airlines airport and Heathrow is a Full service airlines Airport. Because of this the BAA argue that the airports are not in competition with each other and they should be allowed to own them both.
Stansted will continue to go down the tubes until the BAA have exhausted every possible right of appeal and they are forced to sell it.
