Hmm wonder why they're replacing them?
May have something to do with the money BAA have to pay back to the airlines for them having been out of service for so long (since a slight mishap on 32L if I remember correctly). BAA has an SLA that requires certain facilities to be available for a minimum amount of time and with about 50% of the bridges being out for so long it's costing them a not insignificant amount....
one thing i didnt like about Stansted was the way my gate wasent called until 35minutes before my departure
This has little if anything to do with the airline or even the handling agent. BAA have very strict rules on how early a gate number can be displayed and how early the status can be changed on the FIDS etc. This may have something to do with the departure lounge revenue stream
