You may find that £2000 for "living costs" is underestimating it slightly.

Yes there is a hell of a lot of hard work to be done, but you will need to get out of the blue gates frequently. £2k equates to approx £33 a week for travel, drink, eating out, toiletries, the "hotel" down the road etc

And about the bar, yes it is cheap and cheaper so at happy hour but it does all add up. Of course if you head down to gib frequently you can save well on drink and cigarettes.

The costs all add up, I spent approx £250 a month and that was being conservative with cash.

Also there are a few things which aren't major expenditures, but if you dont factor in enough of a margin (and aviation is all about factoring in margins) you may find yourself in a bit of a bind. So overestimate your budget and then spend it wisely.

Best of luck to you all in applying etc, here's hoping that eventually they might consider hiring those of us who have already left the production line.
