I would advise anyone to think twice before leaving a good job to work for a Chinese operator, Oz base or not. I know the Air China contract has been " massaged ", after being signed, and as a gweilo you have absolutely zero rights. ( no, you won't be subject to Oz IR and even if u were, the Chinese would ignore it ).
Also if there is any downturn you will find yourself unemployed quicker than u can say " I'll have the dim sum ".
Then there's the little annoying things like, smoking in the flight deck, all the chatter in the FD being in Mandarin, etc.
