I think the point is being missed here
when he asked an English- speaking flight attendant for a 7 Up, he got a Sprite instead.
She got it right and offered him the closest alternate to the brand he was asking.
I think it is a coke vs pepsi battle here. Unless the airline is stocked like a Super stop and shop even a native French speaker would have gotten it wrong. Maybe he should try his luck at a McDonalds and ask them for a Diet Pepsi!!!
