There will be major growth in certain regions, asia pacific being the main one. The number of aircraft ordered in total looks impressive, but the year on year numbers will be less so although still big. From a european perspective the job opportunities particularly for inexperienced pilots from over here are unlikely to be that significant.

There is no doubt that China and India favour locals. Paying a premium for foreign captains whilst unavoidable in the short term is bound to be a target for reduction with time. If you look at parallels in the shipping industry then we may expect a migration of jobs from Europe, offshoreing which is effectively what is happening with companies like Emirates and Turkish to name but two.

The answer to the question where the pilots will come from is that ultimately they will come from wherever they can be sourced most cheaply, which is almost certainly not Europe.
