Having worked in something very similar for the last 12 months, now ceased, I can add that you can learn an awful lot about operating a B737-NG and considerable insight into multi-crew dynamics. Besides it can also be a lot of fun when you try operating into somewhere never intended for a Boeing.
I was fortunate enough to have unfettered access to the simulator out of hours where I could extend the type of flights into quasi-airline flights utilising all the features of the sim including the FMC which wasn't used for the majority of the customer flights.
