The chute pulls have reflected in high insurance premiums.
In the US, several insurers will waive the deductible if you pull the red handle and deploy the Cirrus parachute. Why? They want you as a customer for life. Much better business to keep you as a customer than go to court with your estate.
I know one UK insurer has whacked up the deductible from £3500 to £15000, following one well publicised UK chute pull a year ago.
Interesting. My information is that the UK insurer was losing their shirt on pranged airplanes running off the runway, not chute pulls or fatal accidents. Got any more data on the insurer who made this change?
