The insinuation that humans cannot be moral (or "real morality" as you put it) without religion, is offensive and naive.
You mention Hitler, Mao and Stalin - the regimes of these demagogues were religions in themselves.
None of their atrocities were committed in the name of atheism. Unlike the crusades, suicide bombing, genital mutilation, etc. (the list is long) which were, and still are committed in the name of religion.
Also, Hitler was a catholic and 99% of his soldiers were christian.
