But you certainly do understand that AF447, an no point during this event, ever came close to this situation, right?
In unlikely case that pitch trim was switched to manual mode (direct law, abnormal attitude,...), this backup would
NOT be triggered. It is only in case of complete failure of electrical elevator control, and this never happened to AF447.
