The exhaust shroud and cowl louvers really keep the CHT's down, especially running LOP with GAMI's. Closing the cowl flaps a bit sooner, as a result, makes for a bit more climb rate and speed.

Adding a not so popular Skywagon option (Knots2U flap gap seals) nets a 3-5 MPH cruise speed increase with NO INCREASE in stalling speed. A 500 FPM climb near sea level results in a cruise climb IAS of 157 MPH...this with 8.50's, bubble windows, Sportsman cuff, WingX and Micro Aero VG's. Prop is an 86" two-blade. Descent planning had to be modified slightly, also, as the speed doesn't slow as quickly. My buddy is getting the same results.

The 185 is a winner.
