I would agree that Soar Minden is well worth a look, check their website. I've had some wonderful flights there; diamond height in wave and a 500k attempt that ended with a landout at a desert strip at dusk. Woken up the next morning by being buzzed by the tug! I flew on an FAA licence issued on the strength of my UK CAA power licence many years before. My solo glider flying was therefore as a student glider pilot under supervision.

One word of advice, valid for anywhere not particularly Minden, your memberships and fees may not automatically include insurance for your liability to the aircraft hull. The club will be able to offer you this at a reasonable cost. I managed an 'oops' with minor damage which, in the UK club scene, would have the glider in the workshop for a day and back on line. In the US commercial world the insurance claim, for professional shop repair and loss of use of the aircraft was significant and would certainly have hurt if paid out of my own pocket.

Have some good flying!

Jim
