Peach Aviation, Japan’s newest low-cost carrier formed by joint venture partners All Nippon Airways and First Eastern Investment, named former Ryanair Chairman Patrick Murphy as a corporate advisor (ATW Daily News, May 26).
Murphy was appointed chairman of Ryanair in 1991 and oversaw its transformation from a traditional full-service regional airline into a low-cost airline. He left in 1994 and started his career as a consultant and advisor to airlines.
Peach CEO Shinichi Inoue said that Murphy’s “advice and recommendations will be very valuable to the team.”
I know it was always going to be a low cost company, but this is getting more interesting..we'll see, as I said earlier I'm waiting to see how people will react to a (hopefully not) hardcore LCC in Japan. For those of you having experience in the above mentioned type of companies in Europe you' ll know what I mean, and the type of service/attitude/assistance the Japanese are used to will be tough to achieve.
