bmi announcement ref ATQ

I am pleased to inform you that today we are announcing a brand new route for bmi, to Amritsar in Northwestern India.

The route will commence on 13 October and flights will operate three times a week, on Monday, Thursday and Saturday from London Heathrow via Almaty in Kazakhstan. Return flights from Amritsar will again be via Almaty and operate on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. Flights are now on sale.

Flights will be operated on a wide-bodied Airbus A330 aircraft – an aircraft which returns into service for bmi this week after its lease to Turkish Airlines. This newly refurbished aircraft will offer 36 Business and 196 Economy seats.

Business Class customers will benefit from a 60” seat pitch and seat recline of 50 degrees, electronic seat controls, in-seat power, a 15” personal video screen and comfortable noise cancelling headphones. Economy passengers will also benefit from 32” seat pitch with a recline of six degrees and a personal 15” seat back video screen. A wide range of blockbuster films, TV programmes, music and games channels will be offered throughout both cabins on the in-flight entertainment system.

India continues to be a fast growing economy and there is a clear demand for business, leisure and cargo customers to Amritsar and the Punjab region of India.

bmi will be the only airline to offer a service to Amritsar from the UK or Europe. Currently customers for this region of India must change aircraft in Delhi or other points en-route. bmi will therefore provide a convenient schedule for business and leisure passengers, additionally our connections and partner airlines at Heathrow will allow for UK/European and worldwide connection possibilities.
