Hi people, I just registered here to chime in to this thread.

I fly round about 10-15 destinations a year, most often from Paris CDG and back, sometimes with connecting flights from the south French city I live in.

Before I started to fly frequently, I kind of experienced flying as a bit scary, it made me nervous and I was most often scared during take-off and landing (as I had read that those moments were the most dangerous during a flight).

But after moving to France ten years ago (I am not French) I started to fly more frequently (back home during holidays etc.) and finally I got a job where I need to go abroad round about once or twice a month in average, all of a sudden I felt very comfortably with it, and I must say that now I really enjoy flying (even if longhauls make me very bored, and flying back to France from the US kills me for 3-4 days at least).

What I am trying to say is that you should just face your fear, and go, it's not flying you are afraid of, it most probably is about the unfamiliar situation, and that you don't have any way to control what's going on, ie. you don't have an option to jump off...

Thinking about worst case scenarios, is quite fatalistic, do you have a car? You know that driving a car is more dangerous than flying, not to talk about pedestrians, or bicyclists, statistically, flying should be the number one choice of everyone with "fear" for worst case scenarios...

Now go find a nice flight for you and your lady, so you get to enjoy life and see the world!

(I prefer to fly premium on longhauls, a dedicated space with less people = much better air in that space = less smashed on arrival, and since I am almost 2 meters tall, I need that extra leg-space).

Have fun!!!
