I think you are all getting a little ahead of yourselves with regard to Careflight and Pelair! They both may have won contracts, but both are yet to prove themselves as Air Ambulance operators. Sure they both have retrieval experience, but that pales into insignificance with the number of patients they will now be carrying as air ambulance operators.
As far as the RFDS is concerned, it is my hope that losing a few contracts might be just what the RFDS needs, it just may speed up the consolidation of RFDS assets into one operation, rather than the multiple entities we see at the moment. Anyone willing to wager on who will win the Tassie contract?
PS: Any truth to the rumour that Careflight lost their Senior flight Nurse in Darwin, as well as a number of very experienced nurses in the last couple of weeks? Are there problems in the camp already?
