I'm afraid you're using the same rationale as Cazatou did earlier, in turn reflecting MoD's stance. That is, justifying safety decisions after the event.

My question is simple, the code hasn't been rewritten, if it was grossly unairworthy then, surely it must be now, you can't have it both ways.
We're still flying Block 1 software, admittedly not the Jun 94 standard, but not completely rewritten.
