The thing is they don't currently compete on any routes. VA do not currently fly to singapore (perhaps they would have sooner had this deal not been in the works). Yes you have tiger in Australia who are Singapore owned but VA aren't applying for partnership with them. What's more interesting is thatthe deal excludes the pacific route. Watch this space I say.
