The competition begins with the aircraft getting into formation following the Pace Aircraft. The aircraft assemble in a line-abreast formation to the right of the Pace Plane as it makes its final left turn towards "the chute," an imaginary path onto the Race Course. After the final turn, the formation begins to descend as the Pace Pilot advises the racers to adjust their positions to maintain a straight line abreast. Once the Pace Pilot is comfortable that the formation is in a good position to start he makes the call, "Gentlemen, you have a race!"
From this point, it’s full on air racing as the competitors duck and dive to gain advantage. They proceed through a twisting and turning pylon course and then pull straight up into the vertical and reverse course back the other direction. The winner stays within the established course and is able to out maneuver and stay ahead of the other competitors."
I'm all for more exciting air sports but this will have to be fixed otherwise they'll all just fly into each other jostling for position in the 'chute'.
