RTFQ - the OP asked about destination and total. No, these would not be taken on the word of the other station - the baggage bin would be broken down and each bag rescanned by the baggage reconciliation system before onward transfer. There was no mention of screening or security.
It shouldn't matter where you told them to load it, as I assume the tag would have been scanned before actual loading as per JAR-OPS AAA requirements.
If that didn't happen, then you / they were operating outside of the law.
