An Emirates DXB-LAX-DXB trip consists of 2 Capts and 2 FOs. (2 Crews)
One Crew 'operates' DXB-LAX while the other Crew augments (operates while the operating Crew rests during cruise). The roles reverse on the LAX-DXB sector.
When operating, the whole flying time is logged for the purpose of FTLs.
When augmenting, only the time spent as an operating crew is logged.
Typically on a 31hr 30min trip (DXB-LAX-DXB), pilots will log 22-24 hrs.
Sorry but I don't fully understand. Do you have a layover in between or the "augmenting" crew take over the second leg straight away??? That seems to much regarding limitation!
