Aircraft Maintenance Trainee Course

BAE Systems are supporting exciting opportunities at RAF bases around East Anglia working on military fast jets.

BAE Systems is offering the opportunity to undergo a rigorous training programme, starting with the completion of a Technical Certificate in Aeronautical Engineering and mechanical hand skills training in workshops and on fast jet aircraft.

As an Aircraft Mechanic Trainee what can you expect?

BAE Systems is working with the RAF on a number of long term contracts maintaining its fleet of fast jet aircraft at RAF bases including:

This stage of training will be based at either Robin Hood Airport, near Doncaster or one of the three colleges, Peterborough, Lincoln and the College of West Anglia and usually lasts 8 months. Trainees will then move onto one of the bases to complete their training and gain a range of experience in Aircraft Maintenance.

For those recruited away from the Doncaster area accommodation will be available during the initial training period. Training usually takes about 20 months to complete and on completion, trainees will qualify as a fully fledged Aircraft Mechanic. Building upon this foundation, further opportunities will be available, with the support of BAE Systems, to continue their career in a maintenance capacity or wider engineering opportunities.

As an Aircraft Mechanic Trainee required skills and qualifications will ideally include:
