Early days. As the decision for RVR to withdraw back to their HQ at Liverpool was only made very recently, there has been no indication of any other company coming forward to take over after July 31.

If Ravenair, with their resources, could not make a viable go of it, their commercial decision to pull out should flag up warning signs to other interested parties.

The dwindling number of based heavy maintenance old style aircraft continues to see a corresponding drop off in maintenance throughput. The era of the gas guzzling dinosaurs is coming to an end.

Here lies the conundrum: with less throughput, and high rent and rates, it all adds up to a low profit margin. When the landlords say they want to increase the rent by 30%, then it is time to pull everything back to home base, engineers included.

It will be a brave individual who takes it on, in the present climate.
